NickL (Nick Lopez) is a full time illustrator and painter living in LA. His art exists in a world he calls Substance80- a brightly colored alternate universe similar to our own but much more hyper-realized.
Here he presents a special line of pin-ups made specifically for Queer Trash. Using his signature bright colors and bold black lines NickL is representing the liveliness and energy found in queer culture in his own unique way.
He says his art is heavily influenced by 80's new wave culture, comic books, b-horror trash, nightlife experiences, spirituality, and his 'colorful' childhood. Above all things, he sites 'music' as his main inspiration source.
His first large scale exposure was doing giant images for all night dance parties throughout the 90's which were wild colorful focal points for party goers. From there he has progressed to murals, album covers, gallery shows, and concert events. Don't forget- these saucy pin-ups too!
NickL's universe grows everyday and we're happy to unravel one corner of it here. What will you be seeing next?!
